i fought the blog, and the blog won

Sooooooooo… I broke my blog. Me.

I was all “WordPress! Why can’t I moderate comments anymore? Why do none of the comments on my dashboard show up on the site? You’re broken!“

They suggested a few things which didn’t work, and investigated further, and found that the problem is an import (of posts from a Tumblr blog) that I did with the help of third party freeware (beware!) which has caused major problems.

My bad.

WordPress staff have no idea how to fix it. And they say I can’t export my posts anywhere else (like to self-hosted WP) without the problem being replicated.

The stupid thing is, I regretted importing those posts pretty much immediately.

The worst thing is, I’m going to have to import each post manually (copy and paste) and none of the comments will come with, so I’ll be all, “Back on my old blog, people liked this post, really…”

So. I’m going to take the rest of the summer to set up my new blog and copy over the old posts and get a head start on some new ones, and then I’ll be back, baby!

I just have to start again from scratch and build something new.

Yeah, I felt depressed by that fact for a while, but now I think it might be a good thing. Fresh starts can be fun.

Right?
